Q: Do you have to be affiliated with TWU to be married in the Little Chapel?

A: No. We welcome the community to be married here at Texas Woman’s University! TWU alumni, faculty, and staff do however receive a discounted rate off their total.

Q: Is there a discount if I serve in the military?

A: Yes. First off, thank you for serving our country! We offer a 25% discount off of room rental to all active military and veterans. This discount also applies to your spouse.

Q: Is there a discount if I attended TWU?

A: Yes. We offer a 15% discount off of room rental to TWU alumni. The couple getting married must present a TWU ID card or ID number.  Family members who attended TWU are not eligible to pass on a discount to someone else.

Q: Are tours available on weekends?

A: Due to special events such as weddings happening on the weekends, we are unable to provide tours in the Little Chapel and the TWU Garden’s on the weekends. Our facilities are open to the public Monday-Sunday 9:00 am -8:00 pm. You are more than welcome to stop by for a self guided tour. Please check our “weekly schedule” tab located on our home page to make sure there are no scheduled events before stopping by. If you prefer a guided tour, please contact our office to schedule an appointment. Guided tours are available Monday through Friday. 9:00 am – 3:30 pm.

Q: What does the Wedding ceremony package include?

  • (3) hour time block on the day of your wedding ceremony.
  • (1) hour rehearsal any day prior to ceremony
  • (2) hour use of the Little Chapel and Garden’s for portraits sitting any day prior to the ceremony (clients will still need to provide all vendors such as the photographer)
  • Chapel Attendant present at the rehearsal and ceremony
  • Seating up to 110 (max capacity)
  • 2 separate changing rooms located behind the altar area
  • Candelabras
  • LED candles along window ledges
  • Pew clips (two options: brown and clear)
  • Unity candle stands *must use our stands*
  • Access to the sound system with auxiliary cord (we have an adapter for newer iPhones)
  • Use of piano and organ (organ player must be from our approved vendor list)

Q: How far in advance do you book for wedding ceremonies?

A: Typically, we book 6-12 months in advance. We can however book out further dates if desired. Please avoid booking a wedding less than two months from the actual wedding ceremony. For availability on your perfect wedding date please contact the Little Chapel Coordinator.

Q: What is the physical address of the Little Chapel to use on invitations?

A: The Physical Address of the Chapel is 415 Chapel Drive Denton, Texas 76209. Please make sure sure the zip code is correct in your GPS, there is another 415 Chapel Drive in Denton and will take you to a subdivision. Wedding Guests can use 1600 Oakland Street Denton, Texas 76204 to parking in the Lowry Woods Lot to attend a wedding ceremony in the chapel/gardens or reception in Hubbard Hall. Please visit our “Parking” tab on our website for more information in regards to parking maps. Please plan ahead and arrive early for possible street detours.

Q: Where is the physical office for the Little Chapel located?

A: Hubbard Hall, Student Union Office Suite

Q: Can I hold my reception inside the TWU Greenhouse?

A: The Greenhouse is a beautiful backdrop perfect for photos and your guests, however, events are not available inside. The Greenhouse lawn may be rented out for weddings and receptions. For more information please contact us.

Q: Where do my guests park? Will there be enough parking?

A: All guests will want to park in Lowry Woods parking lot which is adjacent to the Greenhouse. You can access this parking lot from Chapel Drive. If parking is limited there, guests may park in our new Oakland parking garage during weekends only starting Friday after 9:00 pm through Monday before 7:00 am. Guests do not need a parking decal if the wedding is scheduled for the weekend. Parking fees may apply to guests Monday – Friday.

Q: Who is the Chapel’s officiant? Can I bring my own officiant?

A: The Little Chapel does not have a in-house officiant for wedding ceremonies or other special events. The couple is responsible for bringing in their own officiant.

Q: Can my flower girl toss petals down the aisle?

A: Because our Little Chapel is a historic building, we ask that only silk petals to be used to toss down the aisle. All other flowers including bouquets, boutonnieres and free-standing décor may be real floral arrangements.

Q: What does access to our sound system mean?

A: All packages include access to our sound system. Your Chapel Attendant will show the party how to use it the day of the rehearsal/wedding. It is the responsibility of the couple to assign someone (example: a family friend) to work the sound system. We recommend that this person also be there on the day of rehearsal, so they feel comfortable the day of the wedding.

Q: How many people does the chapel seat?

A: The Little Chapel can hold up to 110 in the pews which is max capacity (this includes the 3 pews on the top balcony).

Q: Can my photographer use a external flash inside the Chapel?

A: Yes! Your photographer is allowed to bring in external flashes to capture your wedding.

Q: Can I add candles down the aisle on ground next to the pews?

A: LED candles are only allowed- no live candles on ground.

Q: My reservation is from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. What time can I arrive at the Chapel?

A: You may arrive at the Little Chapel at the start of your reservation time; in this case no earlier than 1:00 pm. This also includes all your vendors such as photographers, coordinators, florist, etc. They may begin arriving at the start of your reservation.

Q: Can I arrive to the dressing rooms earlier so that I can start getting ready sooner?

A: Unfortunately, the changing rooms are part of your reservation time. Therefore, access to both changing rooms would be when your reservation starts. For clarification on when your reservation starts, please refer to your signed reservation summary.

Q: What are the changing rooms like?

A: We have two changing rooms behind the altar. If you are facing the altar- the left changing room is bigger. It has a full length mirror, a large vanity and plenty of chairs for bridal party and immediate family. The right changing room is smaller but has seating and a restroom located inside the room.

Q: Is there only one restroom in Chapel?

A: We have two restrooms at the Little Chapel. One is located inside the right side changing room. The other restroom is located behind the Little Chapel, this will be the “go-to” restroom for all guests and also bride right before she puts her dress on.

Q: Can I have my reception at TWU?

A: Absolutely! We have two beautiful ballrooms to host the wedding reception of your dreams! Contact us for more information or check out the “wedding packages” tab on our website!

Q: Can I hang decor in the Chapel?

A: Since our Chapel is a historic building, free standing decor is only allowed. No decorations can be taped, tacked, or glued anywhere inside or outside of the Little Chapel. We thank you for your cooperation in keeping our Chapel beautiful and preserved!

Q: Can my dog/cat walk down the aisle?

A: We know animals are a big part of the family, but no animals are allowed inside the Chapel unless they are service animals.

Q: If I postpone or cancel my wedding, will I get my money back?

A: All special events at the Little Chapel have a $500 non-refundable deposit. If a wedding needs to be postponed after a payment has been made, there will be a $50 date change fee. The new reservation and date must take place within one year from the original wedding date.

Q: What if I have to cancel my wedding months before my big day?

A: Any cancellations of events less than 60 days will receive no refund. If the cancellation is made before 60 days of your wedding then a refund will be provided on the exact card payment was made on. Refunds may not be issued on a new card that is not on file.

Q: What are your rules on exit traditions after wedding ceremonies?

A: We do not allow sparklers or any other type of live flame exits. We honor the “leave no trace” policy, meaning if your exit tradition will leave the area polluted in any way, then it is not allowed.

Q: Does the Little Chapel provide any decorations for my wedding?

A: The Little Chapel provides the candelabra candles, electronic candles on ledges, pew clips, and unity candle stands for the wedding ceremony. There is a small table and sign in table located in our vestibule you may use if you wish.

Q: Can I hang decorations on the pews?

A: Decorations may be hung on the side of the pews using provided pew clips. Floral arrangements are allowed but please make sure to drain all water before hanging them on pews, water damage to the pews and floor could occur if the arrangements leak. Also, please do not hang anything with sharp edges that can scratch the pews.

Q: Can my relative/ friend play the piano for our wedding?

A: Yes! Any outside vendor including family or friends are welcome to play the piano.

Q: Can I move the reading fixtures at the altar for my wedding?

A: All fixtures are permanent including the pulpit, preacher stand, candelabras, piano, organ and pews and cannot be moved.

Q: Are runners allowed for wedding ceremony?

A: Since our policy states that clients cannot tape, stick, tack or glue anything in the Little Chapel, unfortunately there is no way to secure the runner to the floor. Therefore, they are not allowed.

Q: Can I move my rehearsal time once it is scheduled?

A: Rehearsal times can be changed upon request. However, we ask for a 30 day notice for scheduling purposes. Fridays are limited for rehearsals.

Q: Are there different rates for vow renewals?

A: We do not offer different rates for vow renewals.

Q: What is a typical timeline for the day of the wedding?

A: A typical timeline for a 5:00 pm -8:00 pm wedding at the Little Chapel:

This time line can be adjusted to fit the couples needs for their wedding. We highly recommend starting your ceremony start time at least one hour into your reservation.

  • 5:00 pm- Access to the Little Chapel.
  • 5:00 pm- 6:00 pm Arrival of wedding party and immediate family. Vendors such as florist, photographer, videographer arrive and begin to setup or drop off items in changing rooms.
  • 6:00-6:15 pm Ceremony Start time (please note: if you put 6:00 pm on your invites for the ceremony to start.. early guests will start arriving at 5:30 pm)
  • 6:45 pm- MARRIED!
  • 6:45- 7:45 pm- Pictures (at this time someone should be designated to start removing all personal items from chapel)
  • 7:45 pm – 7:55 pm- Check to make sure all personal items from changing rooms are cleared and all free standing decor is taken down.
  • 7:55 – 8:00 pm Final walk through with Chapel Attendant.

Q: Does the Chapel Attendant coordinate my rehearsal?

A: The Chapel Attendant is present to set up the chapel for the wedding, set up the sound system and instruct your vendors on usage, and to oversee the facility. They will be happy to provide limited guidance and answer any questions you may have about the rehearsal or processional. If you desire full-scale coordination you are welcome to provide a planner or even a friend with experience to manage the flow of your wedding ceremony.
